Florence is a paradise for food lovers. You don’t need to splurge to enjoy incredible meals. Here are some of the best affordable eats we discovered during our trip!
1. All’Antico Vinaio 10/10
A visit to Florence is incomplete without stopping by All’Antico Vinaio, one of the city's most famous sandwich shops. Their sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients, and the bread is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Although the line might seem intimidating, it moves quickly due to their efficient system, and we never waited more than 20 minutes. For the ultimate experience, try the La Tricolore or La Paradiso.
2. I' Girone De' Ghiotti 9.5/10
If you love gourmet sandwiches, this spot is a must-visit. Often considered a rival to All’Antico Vinaio, I’ Girone De’ Ghiotti offers sandwiches that are similar in flavor but with a unique twist—their bread is toasted focaccia, giving every bite a satisfying crunch. While the lines here are usually shorter, the service takes a bit longer, so plan accordingly. For the best experience, head there right when they open.

3. Trattoria Marione 8.5/10
We discovered Trattoria Marione while waiting to check into our Airbnb, and it turned out to be a hidden gem. This charming trattoria serves traditional Italian dishes at reasonable prices.
We enjoyed a delicious pesto pasta (perfect for the kids), a rabbit dish, and mushroom risotto. The staff were incredibly accommodating, even helping us settle in with our luggage and stroller. To top it all off, the tiramisu was absolutely unforgettable!
4. Trattoria Zà Zà 8/10
Situated near Mercato Centrale, Trattoria Zà Zà combines authentic Tuscan flavors with a touch of flair. We tried the carbonara and the wild boar pappardelle, accompanied by several appetizers, which made for a hearty and satisfying meal. While the outdoor seating was a lovely summer option, the heat made us wish we had opted for the cooler indoor space. For dessert, skip the menu here and head to My Sugar Gelato nearby for a sweet ending to your meal.

Florence is full of affordable culinary treasures that will satisfy your taste buds without straining your wallet. Whether you’re grabbing a quick sandwich or settling in for a traditional Italian meal, these spots will leave you wanting more.
