Exploring Parisian Sweets: A Guide to Must-Try Desserts and Pastries

Paris is renowned for its pastries and sweets, and there’s no shortage of iconic spots to indulge your sweet tooth. Here are some of our favorite sweet treats that we think are worth every calorie:

1. Ice Cream from Bachir – 9/10

If you’ve seen viral videos of this Lebanese ice cream shop, you might wonder if it’s worth the hype – and it absolutely is! Bachir’s ice cream is thick like gelato, with unique flavors and a show-stopping crushed pistachio coating. We loved the orange blossom flavor, a subtle and refreshing seasonal choice. Watching them roll the ice cream in pistachios is an experience in itself, and the line moves surprisingly fast. Don’t miss this delightful spot!

2. Macarons from Pierre Hermé and Ladurée – 9/10

No trip to Paris is complete without trying a macaron, and there’s no better place than the iconic Ladurée on the Champs-Élysées. If classic flavors like vanilla and strawberry are your thing, Ladurée is perfect. For a more modern twist, Pierre Hermé offers unique flavor combinations that are equally delicious. Try both to find your favorite!

3. Le Chou Vanille and Chocolate Chip Cookie from Mamiche – 10/10

Mamiche has mastered the art of sweets, and their Le Chou Vanille is a standout. This light, vanilla cream-puff dessert is perfectly sweet and a must-try. Their chocolate chip cookie is also fantastic – a great addition to any pastry order. Both treats tend to sell out, so grab them while you can!

4. Portuguese Egg Tarts from Manteigaria – 10/10

We stumbled upon Manteigaria’s Paris outpost by chance, having tried their famous egg tarts in Lisbon. These tarts boast a perfectly flaky crust and sweet, custardy filling – identical to those in Portugal. Highly recommend this treat for any egg tart fan!

5. Du Pain et des Idées – 8.5/10

Another favorite of ours, Du Pain et des Idées, is known for their “escargot” pastries – a twist on the classic pain au raisin. Their pistachio chocolate escargot is particularly delicious. Just keep in mind that they don’t heat their pastries, so plan accordingly. Also, note they’re closed on weekends.

Each of these sweet spots offers a memorable taste of Paris’s dessert scene. Make sure to try a few (or all!) and treat yourself to the best sweets Paris has to offer.
